MICHAEL & KATE DUFFIELD
Michael and Kate Duffield work together in writing and in raising their four children, all of whom are adopted and all of whom are wonderful. Michael has worked at a variety of trades from carpentry to legal writing. Kate has been a teacher and a stay-at-home mom. Both believe deeply in NEED’s mission to show the world that people care. |

Ari Edes joined the staff at NEED after graduating from Hampshire College with a concentration in literary journalism. Active in various transgender projects, Edes is a writer and community organizer dedicated to fostering inclusion. |

KYRA GIBSON
Kyra Gibson was a flight attendant when she heard about NEED on one of her flights. She immediately inquired about volunteering for the magazine. Gibson quit her job that year and has enjoyed working for NEED ever since. |

STEPHEN M. KATZ
Stephen M. Katz began his career as a social worker in Washington, DC, but soon traded his clipboard for a camera. Katz has traveled to more than 40 countries to report on global health issues, the need for clean water in developing nations and the devastating effects of malnutrition on children. In 2008, he and Chris Tyree created Wéyo, a media strategy and marketing company that caters to nonprofits. |

Inspired by life-changing humanitarian projects around the world, Stephanie Kinnunen shaped a concept to help those in need through art and media. She and her husband Kelly Kinnunen founded NEED to convey the personal stories of people involved with humanitarian assistance. Their goal is to create an artistic, hope-filled publication that will raise awareness, drive contributions and encourage volunteerism. |

Heather A. Lindquist is a documentary photographer and photojournalist currently based in Chicago, Illinois. She is working on a book project showcasing her trip to Tibet and China. Katy Petershack is a senior at Macalester College earning a degree in English with minors in African studies and geology. Inspired by her study abroad experience in Tanzania, Petershack began an internship at NEED. |

Yan Seiler became interested in photography after completing his degree in computer science and economics. Seiler needed something artistic to contrast with his office job to free up his mind, meet people and discover the world. He took a break to visit Asia, where he had the full opportunity to express his love for photography. Seiler lives between Moutier and Geneva, Switzerland. |

CHRISTOPHER TYREE
Christopher Tyree’s documentary photography projects on drug use, homelessness and the jailing of the mentally ill have produced legislative change and proven results for his subjects. He is a photojournalist, writer, documentary filmmaker and now co-founder of Wéyo, a company that specializes in telling stories of nonprofits in unique and compelling ways. |

Rachel Yuen graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism and a minor in sociology. She spent the summer of 2007 as an intern for NEED. After graduating and trying out various jobs, she is thrilled to return to contribute to NEED’s mission. |
