how to get rid of stretch marks on thighs

Surely by now you know how the stretchmarks came to be on your abdomen, but just in case you’ve forgotten – they showed up because your stomach stretched past the capacity of your skin.

This may be because you gained a lot of weight quickly, but most likely you got your stretch marks the same way millions of other women did – by getting pregnant and carrying your baby to term.

The real question is, however, now that you have stretch marks, what are you going to do about them?

There are lotions and potions you can try to help the marks fade, but the fact of the matter is, stretchmarks fade on their own over time to a silvery white color, and they are generally visible in certain lights and angles, no matter how much cream you rub on your stomach and how many sit-ups you do.

To add insult to injury, often the skin that is peppered with stretchmarks often has a bit too much give to it as well – it’s like an overinflated balloon that’s lost all the air.

At this point there are only two real choices a woman faces. Do you remove the stretch marks or do you ignore them?

Ignoring Stretchmarks

Skin will only bounce back so much after pregnancy. You may be a mother who got lucky after the first baby and got her flat, smooth tummy back rather quickly.

But then, with the second baby, the skin of your abdomen might have just given in and decided to stay stretched. No amount of lotion – even with collagen and tightening elements, can hold it all together for you in the long-term.

But it can do a bit to smooth out the remaining belly at least. Wearing high-waisted panties rather than bikini briefs can do a lot to hide some of the most prominent stretch marks as well.

For many women, this is as far as they are willing to go in the battle against stretch marks. They toss out the string bikini, grab the tankini that covers the belly comfortably and get on with their lives. It’s a healthy reaction to life and living changing the bodies of mothers, but it’s not the only option available.

There is a well-known surgical procedure that easily removes virtually all stretchmarks and that loose skin as well. A tummy tuck cuts away a swatch of skin and tissue and then pulls the remaining skin down to the pubic area, permanently erasing stretchmarks on your mid and lower abdomen.

As a side benefit, the surgeon performing the tummy tuck surgery uses special stitches to close up any gaps between the muscles of the abdomen and make your core muscles tighter and stronger as well.

The thought of a tummy tuck puts many women at odds. Is cosmetic surgery really the answer and just how much does a tummy tuck cost? The short answer is that only you can decide if surgery is the right answer for you, but the results truly last a lifetime since the damaged skin is completely removed from the body.

The price, of course, reflects the long-lasting results and skill of the surgeon performing the procedure, but there are ways to make the surgery reasonable.

Ultimately many women decide that the tummy tuck surgery, even with its moderate price tag, is worth it to avoid dealing with stretch marks and pouchy skin for the next forty, fifty or even sixty years.
