Lea Coon is successfully avoiding more graduate school. She works in Minnesota Public Radio's newsroom, writes for NEED magazine, and is slowly recovering the social skills she lost at the University of Minnesota. Coon lives a seemingly quiet life in Minneapolis.

Born in Bialystok, Poland, Maciej Dakowicz is a software engineer. He is currently living in Cardiff, Wales, working as a researcher and studying for his Ph.D at the University of Glamorgan. His real passion is photography. Dakowicz has traveled throughout Asia and elsewhere as an amateur photographer. His photo galleries appear as the "Most Popular of All Time" on pbase.com because of his expressive humanistic style. Dakowicz has been interested in photography for only three short years, yet his images show the promise of a brilliant photographer.

Joni Danzl, a Minneapolis-based freelance writer, covers health, travel and home topics and has recently branched into humanitarian and family topics. She has written for the World & I Online, Lakestyle Magazine, Log Home Design and many newsletters. She also founded Living On, a grief support newsletter. Danzl and her husband are empty nesters who enjoy the lakes and wildlife of northern Minnesota whenever possible.

Over the past five years, Adam Hanson has had a blast working with kids from a number of different countries through Mercy Ships, the United Way and the YMCA. In September 2005, Scott Harrison tested the idea behind charity: by producing a large exhibition of his photographs and videos called mercy. Despite opening in the midst of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Harrison's mercy show was a success. Visitors contributed more than $96,000 USD towards providing medical procedures and freshwater wells in West Africa. Since the end of the cold war, award-winning photojournalist Ron Haviv has produced important images of conflict and humanitarian crises around the world. Numerous museums and galleries have featured his work, including The Louvre, United Nations, and The Council on Foreign Relations. Inspired by life-changing humanitarian projects around the world, Stephanie Kinnunen shaped a concept to help those in need through art and media. She and her husband Kelly Kinnunen founded NEED magazine to convey the personal stories of people involved with humanitarian assistance. Their goal is to create an artistic, hope-filled publication that will raise awareness, drive contributions and encourage volunteerism.

Jack Kurtz is a photographer based in Phoenix, AZ, affiliated with ZUMA Press. His work has appeared in the New York Times, Time and US News & World Report and other newspapers and magazines around the world. Much of his work has focused on the US relationship with Latin America, such as the immigration from Latin America into the US along the Arizona and Texas borders with Mexico. Kurtz has traveled in Mexico, Nicaragua and Cuba and photographed extensively in Southeast Asia. His recent stories include landmine recovery and the rebuilding of Cambodia. Erin Luhmann is working towards an English degree at Gustavus Adolphus College where she will also finish with a minor in Peace Studies. Landing an internship with NEED magazine has been one of her most gratifying educational experiences. Writing is her vehicle for social change, and she plans to join the Peace Corps after graduation.

Aditi Naik holds a degree in political science with a concentration in international development from Macalester College. Jon Reisinger is a new resident of Nebraska, but works hard to keep a global mind-set. He was a heartless ski bum before a rough crash, and a good friend put him on a more altruistic path. Yan Seiler was born in the early 70s in Moutier, a small industrial town of the French part of Switzerland. His interest for photography came a few years ago after completing his degree in computer science and economics. Seiler needed something artistic to contrast with his job in the office in order to free up his mind, meet people and discover the world. After working for several years, he decided to take a break and visit Asia and had the full opportunity to express his love for photography.
